2007 in a nutshell

With less than 13 hours to go on 2007, whilst I procrastinate before preparing my records for tonights street bash and watch the rain pelt down outside.. I'm given a brief moment to reflect on the year..

2007 has been a great year. Like any year, it's not been without challenges - both in my personal and work life - which have helped me become a stronger person and also identify further where I want to be in life and how I am going to get there.

The year started a bit shakey, after my 2006/2007 New Years efforts which involved a lot of red wine, a transformation into a ninja, and someone's glass hitting the ground after I punched them in the guts. Classy move.

From there the Qld Supra Club went to hold a pre-car show party @ The Drink Nightclub, whereby I got drunk again and fell over where I was standing - much to the laughter of all my friends who no doubt will never forget this momentus occassion.

All jokes at my own misfortune aside the year has been amazing.

The Club has grown substantially this year and whilst work and personal lives have tried their best to interfere with the progress of the Club, we have come through - running another massive Australian National Supra Meet in Port MacQuarie with the NSW + ACT Supra Clubs; as well as getting a massive feature on our Annual Somerset Dam cruise in High Performance Imports issue #88.

My own business, Insane Technologies, has also grown substantially within the year. The end of the 2005/2006 financial year was a joyous occassion as the business made it's first proper profit. Albeit a small profit, it was a substantial leap for me after years of battling and a year which changed the company substantially by way of a major change in the company structure - removing our web development services and focussing on network management.

As we end the 2007 year and are mid way through the 2007/2008 financial year, the company is looking strong to continue it's steady growth. There is still much we need to do to ensure we don't slip behind, but with the team I now have I'm confident that we will continue to move forward.

Mid 2007 I was finally accepted and initiated as an Entered Apprentice Freemason. This is something I have been interested in for many years and have researched countless times trying to understand what is known as the oldest Fraternity. Although this is all something very new to me, I am confident that my ongoing affiliation will help my own personal growth.

2007 was certainly not without it's perks. I fell in love for the first time in many years and whilst as 2007 draws close I too fell out of love, the experience helped me get "back on the horse" (so to speak).

True too is the fact that this experience in itself may have played a part in helping to move a relationship which was dormant for nearly 8 years to the surface and whilst the Universe is still yet to unveil it's plans for this recently unveiled plot twist, I have faith ;).

All in all, the year has had it's challenges, it's drama and it's joy - it has certainly been one of the most obviously positive years I have experienced in many years. Which is not to say that previous years have not been positive on me, but just to say that this year has been the most positive I can recall to date.

As I prepare for the final celebration for 2007 and look towards 2008 - I must venture to Melbourne to wish one of my best friends a Happy 30th; plan my brothers bux party; attend his wedding; decide what I'm actually going to do for my own 30th; and focus on my work and personal life and see if I can improve on 2007, with 2008!

So with that I'm off to sort out my records and wind myself up ready to bash out the night with friends.. remember the year for it's good and it's bad.. and try and keep Ninja-Daveâ„¢ under wraps ;)
